A fun-loving, no fuss carpenter from Gridania. Kiyohime will make everything and anything (wood**) upon request! Just please set your date in advance, because once she gets going, it has has HAS to be perfect. An artisan ought to act like one in all ways, always.And if she's not laboring away at her workshop in the Lavender Beds, she's out exploring all the corners of Eorzea via chocobo porters. Good little things; she can't get enough of how they smell: "like home, but add more dust and warmth." Is how she'd put it. So far, her adventures have led her to the three major cities, all of which have her name written in the woodworker's ledgers. But, her favourite will always be Gridania. One would think that it's all just trees, but maybe if you spent as much time with nature as she did, you may also see what she sees.Currently, she can be found in all sorts of places-- may it be the fighting pits of Ul'dah, supplying weapons, or even at the far-reaching Kugane, trying to learn all the recipes the East could offer! Nowhere is nowhere in the eyes of this curious Miqo'te!
Backstory
1. Childhood
Hello. I write this book to remember all my life in Eorzea. Thiss book I buy buyed bought from travelling seller going to Gryidaniea. He say that book is very good for writing because it is good to keep in pouch and bring around trees when I jump.My name is Khiyo. We are from Ghashima tribe near big tree. There is many blue deer and mouse here. Good for hunting. We are never hungry always. Mama is a good hunter and always comes back home. Today she bring very big deer. very very big deer because she say she hunt this deer for two days and it takes long night to keep finding and hunt when it is a-sleep. We eat fish while waiting. There is also many fish by water so we are never hungry always also.I am the one child of my mama and papa. many of my brother and sisters already go away Eorzea. They leave to hunt the big mouse in the high trees mama says. maybe they come back after they eat all of big mouse. mama says it will take a long time but I will wait because I also want to hunt big mouse some day with them.today the seller merchant comes back because it is next moon already. he give me another book to write but I already have this one so I say he give to someone else. but he say to me that book is almost over and I need a new one. I tell him okay and I get one more from him. it only trade for two fish and two hands of coin. I do not know why it is called gill because gill is for fish and this coin is not a fish. I do not want coin because it is not fish and shines in light. deer and mouse do not like light so I do-no't don't like gill.mama says i am old enough to start hunt. short spear for me only because mama says i don't hold long mama spear yet because heavy. I say i'm okay with short spear today but tomorrow I try big spear again maybe I will be bigger because every tomorrow we grow. she say maybe.i hunt small mouse today mama say i do okay. mama hunts big mama mouse and i hunt small mouse because i am small. today also i sleep because all night i chase blue deer but it run away and i sleep now because sun is out and I want to sleep. papa says tomorrow i help with making big spear so i have my own when i am older. but tomorrow he say it only for mama and other mama who is not my mama. he say i have to make spear strong because mama will hunt with Grydania tomorrow because we want to stay in big tree.mama did not come back from hunt with gridania yet. papa says I wait some more because gridania is big and he will also hunt away. I will wait for them and eat fish again but it is okay because when mama hunts for many days she comes back with also many food.merchant says i come with him now because mama and papa are hunting away for three four nights now. he say I will be safe with him while we wait. will go to big place ishgard. I will leave part of book called "page" on my bedroll so they know i will come back when they come back. merchant say I leave book with them so they can read my memories and he will give me new book to ishgard.
2. Ishgard
Life in Ishgard is very different from the life in Gridania. The air is cold, and the only way to stay warm is to wear these thick coats that weigh like carrying a small animal on my back all the time. My merchant friend says I will live with a friend because Ishgard doesn't allow people to live on the street. I miss the canopies of The Shroud.but maybe there's nothing to go back there now. My tribe was killed by the people of Gridania, and I don't know where the others are. I don't want to think I'm the only one left, so I will work in Ishgard until I can come back to my home and see for myself.Work in Ishgard is also very hard. I don't understand why there's so many things to clean like plates and forks and knives. I look at their mouths and see they have teeth so why do they need so many things to cut their food with? The noble men I work for don't like to see me eating so I eat in the kitchen, but I think they're wrong. but their wives are nice. They teach me how to read and write. They also tell me to be quiet at night because they are asleep, but they have a lot of mice in their houses so I catch it for them! They also tell me not to tell anyone that they have mice because it's bad to let the other houses know.I think they're wrong because having a lot of mice means they have a lot of food for now and they will not be hungry. But if they don't know how to hunt then how will they keep having food? The wives say they have gil.Some houses also have children but I don't see them a lot because I take naps in the morning and the children go to school. and when I'm awake at night, the children are asleep. Sometimes I see them go to the kitchen at night and they share food with me and we don't say anything to the parents.The wives also take me to the market to buy food sometimes. but they also tell me not to smell the meat because the merchants don't like it when I touch the bad meat. Why will they sell bad meat if it's bad? In The Shroud we bury the bad meat so nobody can eat it, so I just tell the wives what to get and they take it. I don't like this work the most because I have to stay awake in the morning when I'm sleepy, but they say Miqo'te have good smelling and the Elezen can't do it.I rode a chocobo today!! Because I did all my housework early, one of the wives asked me when my birthday was. I told her I don't know. Why would anyone want to remember when they were born? Everyone is already born. I don't understand. but she says that it's a special day because it's my day. And she asked me what I wanted to do so I said I wanted to go back to Gridania. She says she can't do that but if there's anything else I wanted, she says I should tell her.So I asked if I can have a chocobo because I want to have something to ride to the market so I don't have to walk while I'm asleep going there. She laughed but I don't know why she laughed. She says it doesn't work like that, but I see the merchants do it all the time in Gridania. I told her it is also my birthday tomorrow but she laughed again and told me that's not how it works again.
3. "Artisanal Work" [Suggestive]
Today I am a "woman" I don't understand this because I've always been a woman. Nothing has changed. One of the wives I clean dishes for told me that being a woman means I have to be careful because there are many nobles who like women and they will do anything to get to me. I don't understand this because I've always been the one going to them for work.She says I will know soon.One of the nobles talked to me today. I have to learn something for him. I don't understand why I have to dance at night for his friends but he says it's so I can go back to Gridania. But I also have to know how to make chairs and tables because my dancing is a secret. If the guards ask why I'm walking with other nobles at night I will say I make woodwork as an artisan and show my license.I like this new job because I get a lot of gil but this new work is also confusing. I say something but do something else. I only make chairs in the morning when I'm sleepy but I dance at night. I make the other nobles smile but it feels weird because they look at me weird. One of the nobles asked me when my birthday was and I said again I don't know. Then he asked how old I am because he wants to be sure. I don't understand why it's important to know if I'm only dancing.After my dancing I was told to answer that I'm old enough. I will get a lot more gil if I say that.Today one of the nobles asked again and I answered. And then he said if I wanted more gil I have to go with him. So I went with him and he asked me to dance but I have to take my clothes off. He said he will pay me a lot of gil but it's cold so I said no. He said he will add more wood in the fire so the house is warm. But I said I can dance with my clothes on and he stopped asking.I don't understand why nobody wants to see me dance anymore.
4. Restoration [Suggestive]
I think it's been seven years since I left Gridania. I don't know anymore since I was so young then. But comparing myself to the other Miqo'te here would say I'm about their age. Some look like they were my age when I first came to Ishgard, and others are 26 years old. I think that's my age. I can't know for certain.I had to keep continuing work as an adult escort. I didn't even know that was what I was doing until much later. I stopped doing housework completely; it doesn't pay as much. My nobleman master keeps me happy and fed, and I don't sleep in the kitchen anymore. Some of his friends touch me at night, and others asked for more. I'm used to it by now.I still want to go back to Gridania, so I'll keep this for a few more moons until I can buy a plot and live in peace.Just a few more moons and this will be behind me.Sometimes the noblemen just want company, someone who will sit with them in silence. I just make sure their cup is always filled, and that I look pretty for them. I've already memorized some things to say so they're satisfied, and maybe I'm okay with being like this. The noblemen know to ask first, and only when I let them. At least they know to respect that.In the morning, I go back to artisan work, and then go to sleep so I'm awake at night. I've gotten fast at doing this, and sometimes I make other furniture if I have the resources. And sometimes, I have to sell the furniture so the records still say I'm an artisan.I'm meeting with another man tomorrow. I don't know him, and he doesn't look like a noble to me. But Sir Pherophond says he pays a lot and he's asked to 'rent' me for two moons.. I hope he's nice.
